You Cannot Win at the Enemy’s Game

Matthew 16:21-27

You cannot win at the enemy’s game. The moment we adopt his weapons—power, pride, slander, revenge, manipulation—we have already accepted his rules. Jesus chooses another way. To Peter, the Cross looks like failure. To Satan, it looks like victory. But Jesus is playing an entirely different game for an entirely different prize: the salvation of humanity. He willingly accepts suffering, humiliation, and death; He loses the enemy’s game in order to empty the enemy’s prison. The Cross changes our understanding of victory itself: from heaven’s perspective, suffering and glory are not opposite roads. In Christ, they become the same road—and those who follow Him are called to take up their cross and walk it with Him.
