Citizens of Heaven
Philippians 3:17-21

What did St. Paul mean when he told the Christians in Philippi that they were “citizens of heaven”? Philippi was a Roman colony, planted hundreds of miles from Rome and charged with making that distant place look and feel Roman. Christians are not waiting to escape this world for Heaven; we have been planted here to make the world around us look more like the Kingdom to which we belong. Our homes, families, work, relationships, money, and ordinary lives become outposts of Heaven as we await the return of our true King, Jesus Christ.
